Will a gas heater operate at the low speed of a dual speed motor?
Reply
Probably not - Most gas heater will shut off at low GPM levels (20-40) to keep the heater cores from overheating - 20 for 200 BTUs, 40 for 400 BTUs. Depending on your pool system you might get these GPM levels at the low speed but generally these heaters must be run at the motor's high speed.

What is the difference between an Electronic and Millivolt ignition?
Reply
The basic answer is that Millivolt is the old style of ignition, using a standing pilot light. While the electronic ignition uses a spark start system like a gas grill. Electronic ignitions are more efficient in gas usage and also are better suited for high wind areas where a pilot light might get extinguished.

Can you get a remote control for the Raypak 266000?
Reply
Hello Suljo - You could use something like the Intermatic PE653RC to remotely control the Raypak heater.

Hi, I wondered how high I can turn up the heat on the Raypak 266? My last heater, a Hayward, only went up to 90, and I don't believe the actual water temp ever got near that. Hopefully, I won't need to turn it so high, but there are always a few cool evenings when I like to crank it up. Thanks.

Therese, these units are factory set for a max temperature of 104 degrees. A licence contractor can adjust it to 107 degrees max following Raypak instructions.

Is this heater available above 2,000 feet?

This particular model is good for 0' - 1,999' we do have our Raypak High Altitude Heaters which go from 2,000' - 9,000' so I would suggest the high altitude model.

Disconnect gas, electric, and pvc water pipes.
Remove old heater
Clean area
Position new heater.
Reconnect services. Note: Electrical connection was same. Had to install new water in/out piping due to cutting out old piping.
Startup according to instructions
You will need help removing old and positioning new heater. They are heavy.
As for services, I was lucky in that I had to do little fabrication. This heater was very similar to my old one. Make sure to confirm location of all connection.
This is NOT a difficult task IF you are comfortable working with gas, electricity, and PVC plastic pipe.

I had the predecessor of this heater before I bought this new one. It was about 15 years old and needed to be replaced because it was rusted out internally and you could no longer stop the leaking. Instead of paying between $2100-$2400 to have a pool company order it and install it for me, I asked my neighbor if he would help. We both have the same heater and basically the same in-ground pool (18x36 and 20x40). He said sure, I don't think it will be too difficult since we have the old one hooked up and we'll be removing that one. So, I found the ROCK BOTTOM CHEAPEST PRICE BY HUNDREDS right here at inyopools. I got my 266BTU for $1499.95 with s/h included. Delivery was quick (about 5 days), on time, and the driver was careful and courteous. He even brought it up to the garage instead of leaving it at the bottom of the driveway like they're supposed to. Next, CUT THE POWER TO THE POOL AT THE BREAKERS. The water lines lined up almost perfectly but that didn't matter much because you have to cut your pvc anyway. He taught me how to size it, cut it, and glue the new pieces together and it was simple. You do need the right cleaner and glue to bond pvc pieces together properly so you should have everything you need and know how to perform this task before attempting this. Then, shut off the gas valve and re-attach it to the new heater using the proper application for the threads (liquid or tape I believe but don't quote me). Then, the electric. He passed on doing the electric because there were like 6 wires in the new heater and like 3 on the old one so he didn't want to break anything. I called an electrician who has experience in working on pool heaters and he did the job in about 20 minutes for $30 - not bad! It turned out the additional wires were for safety so that the heater would turn off if for some reason the pump was to stop (or something like that). Turned it on and WOW, the water was coming out of the jets practically too hot!!! The temperature increases about 2 degrees per hour which is an increase of 1 additional degree per hour over my old one. Due to the fact that it's got it's own thermostat I've turned it up to 90, and my first heater bill was $140 (normal bill is about $50 this time of year). That didn't cover the entire first month (about 3 weeks), but, it included bringing the pool up from 75 to 90, so it did run continuously for at least 6-7 hours or so upon start-up. It was also very warm out (80s and 90s) during that period so I'm sure it didn't run much at all at night. Keep in mind that my pool is normally 90 degrees on it's own during hot days like this so although the gas cost was initially pleasing, as the nights get colder and days get shorter it will run much more often. I expect those bills to perhaps exceed $300, but for a 90+ degree pool for the few months we have to enjoy it in Chicago, it's still well, well worth the money!!! Overall, I am MORE THAN SATISFIED with the heater, and inyopools.com. My neighbor will be replacing his 15 year old heater soon too, and this time, I'll be helping him with his now that I know how. You'll need to know how to cut and bond together pvc, you'll need to know how to shut off the gas valve and reattach it, and, you'll need to know how to do the electrical or hire someone. The electrical instructions are very detailed. That's it. Couldn't be any happier :)

Plumbed the lines myself, got a plumber to run my gas line which was already by the pool. Had an electrician review my connections and the rest is history. I have a 20x40 pool and was able to keep my pool open until the first week in October {SW Ohio}. Lasted I have ever done that. Winterizing is easy, fingers crossed my second year is as successful as my first.

Excellent price, hundreds of $ less than local pool store, plus free shipping? Can't go wrong. Shipped/delivered fast. Trucking company was excellent to work with. Easy to install. This unit replaced a nearly 20 YO RP2100 so connections were very similar. BTW, the truck driver told me he had delivered 4 of these units that same day. INYO Pools must be doing something right!

This unit was very simple to install all it took was a little measuring and getting the right size 3/4" treaded pipe nipples, elbows and a gas valve. The hook up to 110V is very simple since I don't have 240V. Turned the pump on for a few minutes to check for leaks and just flicked the on switch and raised the temperature to 85, my pool water was 65°F and raised 15k gallons to 76°F in just 3.5 hrs, I also had the solar cover which also help retain the heat. Great product so far I'm very satisfied and so are my children.

The freight company that delivered the heater did a great job. It arrived in perfect condition after hooking everything up electrical, gas and the water inlet and outlet set the pool temperature and hit the button unit fired right up and has been working great. Happy with the salesperson from inyo pools very helpful and friendly. I will be buying pools supplies in the future from them.
